CYCLORAMA
Cyclorama / was formed in 2007 by Sebastien Laas (aka Jimmy Ginseng as Daily Vacation – guitarist). At the beginning it was supposed to be the name for his own experiments with electronic and sampling equipment. The influences are mostly coming from 90’s shoegazing and 60’s kraut and psychedelic rock. Seb releases his first LP in 2010 « This Is Aerial Space-Rock, Keep Your Hair On !! ». Always working instrumental, Cyclorama / easily merges the electronic project with the sounds of an amplified rock band complete with vintage guitars and the organic yet mechanically precise drums of Pit Reyland, who joined the band in 2009. This results in the recording of the « Soundwave EP », released in October 2011. After a series of epic concerts until 2013, the duo took time to make a break and choosed among 15 compositions : 9 pieces were taken for the album « Astral Bender », released by Chez Kito Cat Records in December 2014. Cyclorama / returns in 2017 with the eponym album « CYCLORAMA / » closer than ever to Seb’ s conceptual sounding and shows a kind of hommage to My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless album with an own personal touch. The duo is still active till today and is on the way to write songs with Seb’s singing wich opens for sure a larger dimension and many possibilities for the future music.

Leur nouveau disque est une sorte d’abécédaire racé de 20 ans de shoegaze. On pense souvent à The Jesus and Mary Chain ou My Bloody Valentine et la production brouille les pistes tant elle sonne 80’s (les clins d’oeil sont d’ailleurs plutôt de bon goût). Pourtant, entièrement instrumental, cet album évoque surtout les premiers efforts de M83 chez Gooom Disques, celui d’avant la musique de la coupe du monde, Tom cruise sur un surf d’argent et le loft à Venice. Plutôt un bon point pour eux.

S’il y a bien un artiste qui a tout compris à la musique de My Bloody Valentine sans vraiment être un moine copiste de bas étage, c’est le luxembourgeois Sébastien Laas, auteur de plusieurs albums soniques sous l’alias Cyclorama. Avec Astral Bender, paru en 2015 sur la structure messine Chez Kito Kat Records, le luxembourgeois nous avait déjà mis la puce à l’oreille quant à sa facilité à composer de belles mélopées soniques. Ce second album sans titre confirme tout l’espoir que l’on mettait sur cette formation à une seule tête
